Lelan S. Middleton (1902-1998)

A native of Cable, Ohio, Lelan S. Middleton was born on the 14th of February in 1902. He graduated from Ohio Northern University with his Bachelor’s degree in 1925. He also received his Juris Doctorate degree in 1927 from Ohio Northern University, where he was a member of the Delta Theta Phi law fraternity. Attorney Lelan S. Middleton was admitted to practice in 1927 and practiced law for 67 years in Bowling Green, Ohio. During his legal career, he belonged to the following professional organizations:

  • Member, Ohio State Bar Association
  • Member, American Bar Association
  • President, Northwestern Ohio Bar Association
  • President, Wood County Bar Association

Throughout the course of his extensive professional career, he was in partnership with William Dunipace, S. W. (Shad) Bowman, Martin L. Hanna, Harry G. Roebke, Max E. Rayle, David E. Woessner, his son Thomas S. Middleton, and grandson Staten T. Middleton. He served for 27 years on the Board of Directors of the Bank of Wood County and for 12 years as Chairman of the Board of Huntington National Bank. He also served as trustee of Wood County Hospital from 1958-1986 and as Bowling Green Solicitor for over 20 years.

He left an impressive personal and professional legacy upon his death on April 15, 1998.
